Earl Raney balances a dual career as trumpeter and conductor.  This site contains important information about each of the ensembles he directs.

Assistant Professor of Music in Performance at Wheaton College, Earl Raney serves as Music Director and Conductor of the Great Woods Chamber Orchestra and the Southeastern Massachusetts Wind Symphony. He is also Adjunct Professor of Music at Atlantic Union College where he conducts the Atlantic Wind Symphony and Atlantic Union College Symphony Orchestra. Raney is a roster artist for the Massachusetts Cultural Council, New England Foundation for the Arts, and has served as Director of the Thayer Performing Arts Center and Community Music School in South Lancaster, MA. Deeply committed to music education, he performs as guest conductor and clinician at colleges and high schools throughout the country and abroad. Most recently, Raney conducted the Boston University Symphony Orchestra and the Icelandic National Band in Reykjanesbaer. Balancing a dual career as conductor and trumpeter, he is well known as Artistic Director and Solo Trumpeter of the award-winning Epic Brass Quintet. Raney has given over 1700 performances in 46 states, with appearances at numerous celebrated venues, including the Kennedy Center, Weill Recital Hall, and Carnegie Hall. Internationally, He has concertized in Austria, Bermuda, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, Jamaica, Poland, Scotland, Switzerland, US Virgin Islands, and the Far East. Raney has recorded eight compact discs for the Ars Nova Digital record label. In addition to his chamber music career, he has performed with several New England area orchestras and as principal trumpet, Taipei Festival Orchestra, Taiwan, R.O.C. Fall 2010 he joins the brass faculty at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School.
